It is Simply Beautiful

CAMP- Childish Gambino

It truly is just Beautiful, the production is top notch. Extremely intelligent lyrics, all full with heart and passion. I haven’t listened to an album in a long time and been like “wow, this is beautiful music.” Donald Glover a.k.a Childish Gambino is one of the most talented people on earth. I think He’s really funny as an actor and comedian. But with this new album He truly is an artist. which is something That Can’t be said about many music makers now-a-days. The explicit tag is put to use heavily so if your not a fan of excessive language, find an edited copy if you can. Otherwise buy it, pour yourself a drink and sit back and listen to in my opinion the album of the year. It’s Beautiful.

My favorite songs are “Heartbeat” “Kids” & “All the Shine”. But all the songs are amazing. If you like Rap That Goes Hard, CAMP has it. If you Like hearing instruments 808’s and hard bass, CAMP Has plenty. If you like rap that isn’t about trying to make it “big”, “tryna blowin up”, or “Racks upon, Racks upon, Racks” you guessed it CAMP Has It. 

You can go listen to CAMP for free here. After You do that go buy it on iTunes or your nearest record store. Which is what I did. Yup the first physical CD I’ve bought in probably a decade.

If you Like camp then I strongly suggest you go get the rest of Mr. Glover’s catalog. As well as start listening to the best White Rapper around “Macklemore” from Seattle.

Anticipation 

I love me some Beastie Boys, How can you not love old white Jewish guys that can make killer music. Some have said they have lost it and are washed up. Like most music nerds, when I heard they were releasing a new album and it was going to be taking the band’s sound to a bizarre new direction, I was skeptical. I just wished they made stuff that sounded like Licensed to Ill, you know they good ole’ days. When they dropped the first single off HSCP2 “Make Some Noise” I was hoping for the best but expecting the worst. After the first listen I couldn’t wait for the album to drop. “Make Some Noise” has a new sound but feels deeply rooted with the early stuff. 

Pay Off

After Listening to the album the first time through I will say it definitely feels bizarre but for every track that seems off there is another that hits it on the mark. The drums and bass are heavy all the way through, so grab your best head phones when your ready to listen. The track entitled “Crazy Ass Track” has the boys signature group punchlines subtly laced all throughout. “Say It” has a great “Intergalactic” flavor to it with a good dash of “Sabotage” horns, it is easily my 2nd favorite track. My favorite track without a doubt is the 4:09 long track “Nonstop Disco Powerpack” its not a club banger or radio hit by anymeans, which is very refreshing. It has concrete roots in old school hip hop sound, it takes me to a time when I wasn’t even thought of yet, but this song makes me feel like I was there on a stoop in NYC with an Adidas track suit on jammin to my ghetto blaster with my boys.

Grand Finale

Therefore to sum up my conclusion in closing, take my word for it and got buy Hot Sauce Committee Part Two at your local Sam Goody, CD Warehouse, or Itunes Shop. Get your best sound system/Headphones and let the Boys from NYC make sweet hip hop love to your ear canals.

(side note: Anyone else wish Empire Records was a real place? man, I’d work there in a Heart Beat)
